49ers Waive Jarryd Hayne, Hope To Re-Sign Him To Practice Squad

Nov 1, 2015 10:12 AM

The San Francisco 49ers have waived Jarryd Hayne in order to promote Kendall Gaskins to their 53-man roster.

Carlos Hyde has been ruled out with a stress fracture in his left foot.

Reggie Bush, rookie Mike Davis and Gaskins are the only healthy running backs who remain with the 49ers.

San Francisco hopes Hayne clears waivers and they can re-sign him to their practice squad on Monday.

Jason Pierre-Paul Agrees To Deal With Giants

Oct 28, 2015 7:43 PM

Jason Pierre-Paul and the New York Giants have reached agreement on a deal for the remainder of the season.

Pierre-Paul will return in either Week 10 or Week 12 as he works his way back from a fireworks accident where he severely damaged his hand.

Pierre-Paul's deal is heavy on incentives tied to how much of the remainder of this season he's able to play.

The Giants designated Pierre-Paul their franchise player in March, which meant he would have had to play on a one-year, $14.813 million deal or not play at all. New York wasn't interested in bringing him back on the franchise price.

Pierre-Paul will be able to rehab, work out and practice at the Giants' team facility starting Wednesday.

Bears Release Jeremiah Ratliff, Sign Ziggy Hood

Oct 23, 2015 10:47 AM

The Chicago Bears released veteran defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff and signed defensive lineman Ziggy Hood, the team announced Thursday.

"We felt moving forward without Jeremiah was in the best interest of our team," Bears general manager Ryan Pace said in a prepared statement. "We appreciate his contributions and wish him well."

Ratliff, dressed in Bears warm-up clothes, and Pace were observed having an animated conversation in front of Halas Hall around 11:30 a.m. CT while the rest of the team was on the practice field. The exact nature of Ratliff and Pace's conversation is unknown, though sources told the Chicago Tribune that team officials judged that Ratliff arrived not in a condition to work. Two team security guards stood only a couple of feet away during the conversation.

A squad car from an area police department was seen patrolling the Halas Hall grounds at approximately 3 p.m.

The NFL suspended Ratliff for the first three games of the regular season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Saints Shuffle Kickers By Releasing Zach Hocker, Signing Kai Forbath

Oct 19, 2015 12:06 PM

The New Orleans Saints have released kicker Zach Hocker and will sign Kai Forbath.

Hocker missed a potential game-winning 30-yard field goal against the Cowboys and then missed a 51-yard and 48-yard attempt last week.

Hocker won the job over Dustin Hopkins in training camp, likely on the merits of his work in preseason games.

"I can tell you this: He is beat up right now," Ryan said, per The Buffalo News. "He's sore. You ought to see him -- he is sore. We knew he would be. Guys, he hasn't been 100 percent all season."

Johnson makes sense for the Bills after he spent time with play-caller Greg Roman in San Francisco.

Terrell Owens 'Absolutely' Believes He Can Help Eagles

Oct 10, 2015 4:00 PM

Terrell Owens believes the Philadelphia Eagles could use him at receiver this season at the age of 41.

"Absolutely, yes," Owens told the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show on Friday, via CBS Philly. "No question, no question about that, sir."

Owens hasn't played since the preseason in 2012 with the Seattle Seahawks.

"You think that I shouldn't be playing right now?" Owens said. "I definitely could be playing right now, but based on my character -- yeah, people can say, 'Oh, he's 41.'

"But I'm not your average 41-year-old ... And when I was on that football field, I felt like I was the best thing out there and it was due to how hungry I was and how dedicated I was."
